Mr. Sullivan is a member of both the Virginia and Illinois bar and he is authorized to practice in federal and state court in Virginia and Illinois. He teaches the Legal Environment of Business course in the fall with an emphasis on legal issues for entrepreneurs.
Mr. Sullivan has served as an in-house corporate attorney and in private practice. As corporate counsel, Mr. Sullivan has worked for Sears Roebuck, MCI Communications, and ExxonMobil. He also was affiliated with the law firm of LeClair Ryan. He presently serves as Associate Vice President and General Counsel for the Virginia Tech Foundation, Inc., a $1.2M billion charitable foundation supporting Virginia Tech. His responsibilities include the $600 million real estate portfolio, risk management, and all legal matters of the organization and other university related corporations. Prior to law school, Mr. Sullivan worked on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.
