Teaching:
Dr. Schneller teaches at the undergraduate and at the MBA level. Prior to joining Virginia Tech, he was a Visiting Associate Professor at Wharton, Columbia University and University of California, Berkeley.
Research:
Dr. Schneller's main focus of research is in the field of Corporate Finance, mainly dividend policy. His current research interest involves the study of the relationship between dividends and taxes. Contrary to conventional wisdom, Dr. Schneller claims that capital gains taxes are an extra layer of taxation in the form of a tax-free loan to the Treasury. He is also investigating the operating performance and prices of firms that announce the distribution of initial dividends. His research has been published in top quality journals such as Journal of Finance, American Economic Review and Review of Economics and Statistics.
Service-Related Contributions:
Dr. Schneller was the Head of the Finance Department for two years. He is a faculty advisor to the Jewish Student Organization at Virginia Tech.
Professional Achievements:
Dr. Schneller has been a referee for various journals in the past two years. He is a CFA charter holder and a member of the CFA Institute.
