Wei-Hsien Li

M.S. in Finance & M.S. in Mathematics concentrated in Finance, Louisiana State University (2006), B.A. in Finance, National Taiwan University (2001). After military service and serving as teaching assistant in finance department at National Taiwan University, he came to LSU in 2003 and then Virginia Tech in 2006. He is currently trying to explore topics on payout policy and on financial institution. He enjoys listening to classical music and conducting cooking experiments.

Puneet Jaiprakash

M.E. in Industrial & Systems Engineering (2002), MS in Finance (2004), Virginia Tech. While pursuing these degrees, he worked as a Teaching Assistant with the Department of Mathematics and as a Research Assistant with the Grado Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering. He is interested in various topics like mutual funds, investor psychology, and behavioral finance within the realm of empirical finance.

Gokhan Sonaer

MBA Business Finance, University of North Carolina, Charlotte (2003), M.S. Civil Engineering, Middle East Technical University (1998). While studying for his MBA degree he worked as a Research Assistant with the Finance - Business Law Department and Marketing Department. He worked for Finansbank as a financial analyst. He is interested in various topic in finance such as corporate finance, derivatives and investments. He enjoys skiing, playing tennis and swimming.

Anna Kovalenko

Anna holds B.B.A. degree in Finance and Economics with a minor in Mathematics from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.  While working toward her degree in Finance, she was involved in the management of $100,000 portfolio of Student-Managed Endowment Fund and was responsible for financial and business services sectors.  This helped her develop her interests in theoretical and empirical investments and its connections with corporate finance.  Anna also enjoys skiing, swimming, and traveling.

Umut Celiker

MBA, concentrated in finance, Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey (2004) B.S. in Civil Engineering, Middle East Technical University, Ankara, Turkey (2001) Before joining to the doctoral program in finance at Virginia Tech in 2007, he worked as a structural mechanics engineer and financial analyst in the private sector. He has completed his MBA by writing a master's thesis related to the Istanbul Stock Exchange. His research interests include asset pricing, behavioral finance and derivative securities. He enjoys soccer and swimming.

Jaideep Chowdhury

PhD in Economics , Virginia Tech, (2008 Expected) MA in Economics , Virginia Tech, 2005 MS in Qunatitative Economics,Indian Statistical Institute, 2000. Jaideep's primary research interests are topics in corporate finance and behavioral finance. He has taught different courses in Economics and Finance, like Principles of Microeconomics, Principles of Macroeconomics, Introduction to Finance, Money Credit and Banking and Mathematics camp for first year Economics PhD students. He worked for Tata Consultancy Services as an analyst before joining Virginia Tech. He enjoys playing soccer, cricket and chess.

Nikos Artavanis

Nikolaos holds three Master degrees (Finance, Economics, Mathematics) in areas relevant to his research interests that lie in the fields of Asset Pricing and Financial Econometrics. He has taught in the past several Economic and Finance courses, as Portfolio Theory, Investments, Money and Banking, in both undergraduate and graduate level. In 2007, he was elected for the second time as representative in the Economic Chamber of Greece, becoming the youngest economist ever elected in such a position twice and works closely with its Research Department. He has received many scholarships and honors in the past due to his academic performance. He enjoys travelling, sports (volleyball & soccer), teaching, as well as studying history and philosophy.
